Manifesto

The player should feel excited to go on a magical, elemental-themed quest where they can take down a dangerous group known as the harbingers. The additional thought of becoming a wizard that specializes in a particular element and saving specific types of creatures seem like factors that could propose interesting opportunities. The largest hurdles the player must face will be choosing the ‘correct’ choices during their quest in order to save civilians & creatures alike-- and also beating the harbingers in the final life-or-death battle. Some of the player’s choices will determine their final element/wizard evolution and their acquired creature friends. The player can roam various elemental-based locations to find particular characters, creatures, and events. Descriptive language, stylized fonts, transitions, images, and audio elements are used to make the narrative elements more immersive and fulfilling.

Statement

The purpose of this project is to use narrative and visual world-building mechanics alike as a means to create a fun and engaging simulation for players that explores various elemental themes through the lens of fantasy and magic. I hope to achieve a certain level of immersion with this project, and I feel my design overall is well-suited enough interactively for me to achieve this-- especially through the level of agency I’m also hoping to give the player. A few specific features I utilize in Twine’s scripting capabilities is variable and conditional logic (Ex. If the player chooses the robin statue at the beginning, the creature they will have the option to save later on will be a robin.)
